Dr Samer Elsherbiny completed his medical school training at the University of Sheffield in 1993 and has been practicing as a Consultant Opthalmic Surgeon since 2004, currently working in the South Warwickshire Foundation Trust (since 2017).
He is also Associate Clinical Professor at Warwick University Medical School.
His expertise includes General Ophthalmology, Cataract Surgery and Medical Retina.
He was the Clinical Subspecialty Lead of the team that won the joint first place for the inaugural UK Macular Disease Society Awards in 2009 and has also gained numerous Clinical Excellence Award between 2009-2019.
He is highly research active with over 30 peer reviewed publications and more than 20 invited speaker events internationally.
He is currently Principal Investigator for an NIHR and Novartis funded studies. He has also undertaken volunteering and charity work as a Medical Retina Advisor in Tanzania and at the Khmer Sight Foundation in Cambodia.
